You can't keep me in PA forever!
Part 2 of our midlife crisis continues. After our... minor incident and a new house, we are back in as passable health and roaring to go. We continue travels and the next stop in the northeast part of the You Es of A. So we take the traveling salesman approach to get there the fastest... by taking a detour to lake Erie.
part 1: an eerie time in an erie place
I've gotta admit, being back on the road is very nice. You get your nice scenic routes, fresh air and mountain view, and your usual east coast harbringers of death (the drivers). The amount of near accidents people cause here in the 4 hours it took from harrisburg to lake Erie matches the amount I had in the mid west for 2 or so months that i was out there.

Erie itself was nice but.. a dissapointment. No one really talks about it but everyone knows it exists. Your imgaination runs wild with what it could be. But in the end it turns out to be the equivalent of a small run down town of NJ with a slightly worse beach and somehow more traffic with an 1/8 of the people. I'd recomend stopping by if you're in the area or are there for other reasons. But not to take time out of your day to visit.
Part 2: The Main place isnt Maine but New Hamster
Ten hour drives and more near death expereinces are boring topics at this point. From this point forward, assume that any driving i do in the east coast results in me nearly getting rear ended, side swiped, run over or be witness to a truck nearly running someone over or causing some form of accident... at least 3 times. On the bright side, i found the best service station in all the east coast. If you're ever in the massachusests area and gas here is sub $3.90.

The arrival was interesting and I may have gotten a bit over my head; but im sure it'l be fine. I'm now staying at a horse farm barn for a bucolic stay. We've got 3 whippet dogs and 9 horses, Bunk beds in the barn for an effective hostel situation, and a HAWT outdoor shower with the horses.
J the host, she is this 70 year old woman who looks like shes in her 50's-60's. She and her retired husband own the barn, farm, and everything you see in the area. currently she's a horse raiser and trainer. That being said she used to be a network engineere for comcast and friends back in her hay day. Her demeaner reminds strongly of an old professor that I knew from canada. stiff, strong, and direct, but very nice and open. makes you wonder if this is the persionality of the area or if there's more to the story.
N and W are 2 of the residents that have stayed here the longest. N is living his best life, enjoying nature, writing a book for a friend, and working in the area for general living expenses while currently fighting with a wok making food. He's a very talkative guy but seems nice. Whereas i still havent met W but from the descriptions he's like the old man from Up.
Then we get the floaters. Today the people visiting are from georgia checking out a drag race. Tomorrow though they leave and we may be getting a different group showing up; which seems like that will be the running theme for the 2 weeks that I'll be here for.
If nothing else, this continues the adventure and who knows what we can expect but at the very least; this weekend i might be attending a UFO convention with J and N. adventure.
