So. Chicago. Chicago is one of several stops on my way to Seattle.
Now like Pittsburg, I heard a lot about chicago but knew very little. Do I know a lot about chicago now? probably not, but i did get a few days to experience it for myself while finding one of the only hostels in the country.

Chicago, the city that smells like weed and shit. Its a city of traffic, rundown buildings, Trump tower, and a place where crime isnt taken seriosly. The people are sick of having to move furnuture to avoid getting bullets in it. They want to be elsewhere, maybe have a backyard, maybe open a chicken farm in kentucky, and just enjoy the peace and queit that the city does not bring. But as it stands, they are just itching to cut ties with chicago.

Chicago, the city that struggles with issues any city would. They have a homeless issue like any other place but it was not nearly as bad as a lot of other cities tend to have. there are plans in place that try to remedy the sitation. the traffic can be slow but is suprisingly fast with people having the speed of a new yorker and the respect of a old lady out of georgia would have while driving. suprisngly one of the nicest drivers out of any city as long as you follow the pattern. There may be crime but like all cities, it depends on the area you're in and common sense would keep you out of harms way. Where walking at night might not even be an issue.

Chicago is a city of many opinions, the common thread was its not as bad as the news say it is. But the controversial stuff aside, its a great city where I dont recomend driving even if the drivers are competent. foot or public transport would be the way. The city is huge and there are plenty of things to do,  good food to eat, and places to climb. It's a shame i was only there for 3 days and i missed out on getting the chicago handshake. all the more reason to come back.
