The same but different

The same but different

It's becoming quickly apparent that no one knows how to drive, not within the state, the coutntry, or even the world. I am no exception, nearlt becoming a lowercase t last week tought me that. That being said, it is one thing to be a bad driver, it is another to have to deal with crappy road engineering.

Texas, does many things almost right. there is an optional stop sign. depending on traffic its a stopsign, other times its a straight road. A great idea, except that the perpendicular traffic cant see when its a stop sign and when it isnt. This becomes a running theme with Texas. from my escape from satans armpit (80F in winter is insane),  texas through a passing lane at me. its a great idea, every 2-6 miles, a second lane is opened up and that lets faster cars pass slower cars. the issue with this is that some of those lanes go up hill and immediatly tell you that the lane is merging. on a 75 mph road, where you keep a safe distance from the car above. if you try to pass them, you will be building a fire witht he friction of the cars as you pass. Almost good, but missed the mark just barly.

branching off of what Texas almost does right and into my next topic. license plates, they started with a good idea, lets make a blank background. then they said perfection and left it at that. Now im all for cpntempoary art but i hope there is no subliminal meaning. when it comes to design, 5/10.  good start  but i can get the same result with a sun bleach. while we are at it. PA, shit 2/10. they get good colors pairing, then set it up with the worst variation of that color in the worst position. Colorodo, 7.5/10, the base plate is a little bland but nice, sky blue background with a white mountain  in the forefront. classy and stylish. the base design is a bit b lanx but there are some nice variations. and I'll rate and describe it when im there, but im loving the new mexico plates so far.

The drive to Denver was nice though, for some odd reason, north texas smelled like beeth pho, driving through oklohoma had no smell, but Colorodo smelled like pine cones which was odd cause i dont think they had any. these are all things im sure you didnt expect to be learning today. okus, i found the only hill in texas:

also can you tell the which state belongs to which given the following pictures? I sure cant but i can tell you they span 3 states.

I ended up staying the night in a tiny tiny town of Pritchet, CO. the air bnb host started texting instead of using the app. i was already in the middle of nowhere when i turned off the road, and the town was an additional 15 miles in from there. In the dark, with almost no service.as you enter the town it looks pretty beat up, and as i pull up to the hotel, i pass multple half torn buildings and sketchy lamps illumiinating the distance. in the dark, a man was smoking. it was a nice intro to the town.
the man that was smoking ended up also being a guest. his name was also Daniel and he showed mne around before theb host showed up and did the same. its was actually a very nice stay. the building was pretty true to the name of being... "historic".

bathrooms lock by a hook and the door doesnt fully close. bedroom doors close in a simialr fasion but also have those windows above the door open. Things were a lil creaky but honestly it just looked like a mcMansion. lots of rooms and giant kitcken on the first floor. and like a tavern up top with all the bedrooms. Because this place was pretty far out and i imagine few people stayed there, you got to just choose a room. nothing assigned, most things hands off. very unquie and hoenstly i would stay there again.

The town of pritchet was also pretty neat. i imagine it has a population of less than 500. there was 1 bar open that Daniel recomened (also the only open thing) that had perfectly average burgers, straight Texas license plate scale. and he was right, I only felt a little off after the burgers so i consider that a success. Made a new friend in the bar i think. a drunk 60 something year old man named Rich. He endecd up mumbling... a lot... about a lot. it was very hard to understand him but after a lil while; the first is we both agree why pay for TV when you're paying to be advertised. And if the options are go home or have another beer, why not have another beer.

On the topic of Daniel, he is a regional program manager for the dollars of the world. dollard tree, family dollar, dolar dolar dolar yal, etc. So he ends up traverling a lot for work, helping set up the stores. prettyt cool guy who recomended a lot of places to stay if i ever end up going to said locations. We mostly talked travel and traded stories. It was a fun time though you could tell he stayed to long in the middle of nowhere and wanted to talk to someone which i had no problems with.

I tried to see the night starts in the middle of nowhere and that was... only slightly traumatic. The next day i ended up leaving pretty early for my final destination; Denver, Colorodo. which was an experience. betwen the temp dropping and rising up to 10 degreees every 10 or so miles. the change in surroundings every about the same amount of miles. the HILLS, the proper brand ripoffs. We ended up in Denver.

Fun fact, I found the Colorodo version of turkey hill. and after doing more research than i should have. Loaf n jug and turkey hill are both related by the company called Kroger Co. So although Loaf n jug is an oil and gas company. where as turkey hill is a brand known for food and snacks and dairy products. some stores share the brand you see below. Until 2019, Turkey hill was a subsideary of Kroger until it was sold to Peak Rock Capital. where as Lof n Jug are a child company of the EG Group around 2018 due to Kroger desiging to leave the convinence store buisness. I imagine its too much work to rebrand now but hey. i now have this information that i never knew i'd have. and now you do too.

and for those that care, here are a bunch of galmer shots of the state.
